42' Hunter Passage

Want to sail away from it all or just play along the coast? With everything you need to go in style and comfort, this is the boat for you. Many regard the Hunter Passage 42 to be Hunter's finest cruising boat and, with a recent refit, this 94 in tip top shape. A wide beam and strong internal construction grid concentrating weight and strength below the waterline (not found in many production boats), make her sea kindly with great performance. She also boasts ample tankage, storage, and tremendous living space below.

Her refit included new wire rigging and most running rigging, new roller furling, a releasable inner forestay and halyard for a staysail, storm trysail track, and rigging for a spinnaker. A dripless shaft log was installed with new bottom paint in late 2008.

Solar panels are backed up by a Kohler genset. Electronics include an autopilot, gps/chart plotter, Icom VHF, Icom SSB with tuner and Pactor modem, and radar. Six self-tailing winches (1 electric) manage the sails. A 4 man offshore crewsaver life raft is cradled on the aft deck, dinghy davits overhang an integral swim step, and dual anchor rollers carry a 45 pound CQR and a like size Bruce, retrievable by an electric windlass. Anchor rode consists of approx 275 feet of high strength chain (primary) and 200 ft of three strand line with chain (secondary), all kept clean with a wash down system in the anchor locker. Sails include a 135 jib, staysail, and full batten main with 2 reef points. A full bimini shades the center cockpit and stored off the vessel are a full cockpit enclosure, sun shades, a winter boat cover, and a 10 foot hypalon dinghy with 6 hp Merc outboard. Interior comfort is maintained by factory ducted central heat and air. The galley sports a frig, freezer, microwave, three burner range, and a centerline double stainless steel sink. A huge master cabin aft boasts an island queen berth and en suite head with a shower/tub and vanity. Guests visit in comfort in a full size berth, complimented by a desk vanity in the forward stateroom and adjoining head with shower and vanity. The vessel is also factory plumbed for a washer and dryer.

Rigging
B & R masthead rig with backstay. The vessel was refit in late 05 with wire rigging and a Schaefer Model 3100 roller furler. A cutter rig releasable baby stay and halyard for staysail/storm sail, a storm trysail track, a spinnaker pole (with topping lift and mast track), and an extra rear halyard (external) were also added. All other halyards are internal. Most running rigging was also replaced.

Deck/Hull
Unlike many production boats, a strong internal construction grid concentrates weight and strength below the waterline.
The prop shaft strut, dripless shaft log, and four thru-hulls were replaced when new bottom paint was applied in 9/08.
