Bottom has barrier coating.The 31 L is a marked improvement over the original 31 producing superior performance and handling. Whaler changed the prop shaft angle and engine mount location to improve fore/aft balance ...thus better performance.The interior has the centerline master berth everyone agrees was a needed upgrade...amongst other improvements.So if you plan on buying a 31 whaler the 31 L is the model to own.
