Get this ultra-seaworthy fisherman boat to meet all your fishing needs!!!!
Built by Team Baja (San Diego, CA), the hull is a sturdy and fast design, appropriate for California offshore conditions. From a sturdy, offshore hull, the owner completed a refit to make a new custom “Forward House Skiff” design. The project was completed in September 2007. After refit, the boat includes Team Baja hull (totally stripped, rebuilt, new bulkheads, new deck, and new hardware), new forward cabin work station, new I/O gas power package, new hydraulic pinch puller, new instruments, and new electronics. Materials, not including any labor, to complete the project cost the owner $45,000. If you are looking for an ultra-seaworthy fisherman, check out this lobster skiff… She is setup to meet all your fishing needs!

Hull and Deck Gear: The hull is built of fiberglass. The decks, bulkheads, and house are fiberglass over Divinicell foam. Divinicell foam is an expensive, lightweight material that was chosen for its superior performance, safety, and durability qualities. The decks have non-skid surfacing. Important design features include modified Vee hull shape that planes well and bulkheads that create two watertight compartments. Deck layout includes deck at bow, narrow walk around side decks, large working cockpit with forward helm/workstation, and aft deck over engine compartment. The forward helm/workstation includes enclosed dry storage compartment with lockable door, stand-up full instrumentation helm, anti-fatigue mat, convertible Lexan windshield (drops down for fair weather fishing), teak trim, and fiberglass hard top. Hull and deck features include stainless steel deck cleats, rubber rub rail, Halogen deck light, raised gunwales, washdown decks, and two scuppers. Anchor gear includes 20-lb. anchor, 50’ of 5/16” chain, and 150’ of line. Safety gear includes gas fume detector, high-water alarm, two type I commercial rated PFD’s, three ABC B1 fire extinguishers, flare kit, first aid kit, and docking line. The safety gear on this vessel is USCG approved for commercial nearshore fishery. Fishing and sports gear includes in-deck dry storage/fish hold with Freeman aluminum watertight hatch, room on deck for 50 lobster traps, davit, Hydroslave 12” hydraulic pinch puller, and trap table (built into starboard gunwale).
Equipment/Engine Details: The boat package includes 1992 two-axle galvanized steel Pacific trailer. The trailer was recently rebuilt, and it is in good working condition. Trailer features include two boat guides, two carpeted bunks, hand-crank boat pulley, and fenders. The trailer weighs 1,195 lbs. Combined towing weight of boat and trailer is 6,595 lbs.
Engine Details: Power package includes 320 HP V-8 377 6.2 Liter MPI Horizon MerCruiser Gas I/O with 100 hours. The engine was purchased from dealer as “take out” from another boat, and it had only been run 30 minutes at time of purchase. The take out engine came equipped with all the “bells and whistles” and transferrable warrantee good through January 26, 2010. The boat cruises at 18-20 knots and reaches maximum speed of 27 knots. Other engine features include 117-gallon stainless steel fuel tank, freshwater cooling system, MerCruiser Bravo II outdrive, stainless steel prop, 2:1 drive/gear ratio, and spare Bravo II outdrive (purchased at $6,000 used, might need work, makes great spare).
For safety purposes, the engine is housed in a sealed compartment. Other engine compartment features include starboard battery housing and stainless steel hinges.
Remarks: KAITLYN BRYN completed one very successful week of lobster fishing in October 2007. Although she has barely even broken in all of her new equipment, KAITLYN BRYN is retiring (or fishing for another lobster, crab, or longline operator) because the owner has sold his lobster permit. Although the boat is setup as a lobster skiff, it would be appropriate for a variety of commercial or sport applications.
