A triple cabin wooden hulled express cabin cruiser with aft swim platform. The boat is powered by twin rebuilt Chris Craft V8 inboard engines. THIS BOAT IS DOCUMENTED

This 38' 1964 Chris Craft Challenger triple cabin cruiser has been recently renovated. Details of recent work are as follows:

In 2003, a visual, structural survery was preformed which revealed that the hull was sound. There were a few locations around the bridge window that showed the beginning of dry rot. With this in mind, a renovation of the vessel began.

First, the electrical panel (original fuse) was replaced with a breaker panel. Next, all receptacles were replaced with GFCI and more of the same were added. Next, pump out systems to both the 35 gallon black water and 15 gallon gray water with new "Y" valves and hoses were installed. The 30 Amp shore power outlets were rewired and updated. A second bilge blower was installed on the starboard side and new hosing was run to the bilge under both engines. The shower sump was missing and a new one was installed. The 40+ year old refrigerator, range and cabinets were removed and a new galley was installed with a two burner ceramic range, an under counter refigerator, under counter freezer and double basin stainless steel sink for the "L" shaped galley. The bilge was also painted.

In 2004, the 6 gallon asbestos wrapped HWH was removed and a new 20 gallon stainless steel hot water heater was installed. This also heats off the port engine. The holding tank for the antifreeze circulating system on the starboard engine was repaired. The inverter was checked out and the decision was made to install a new battery charger for the house systems. The trunk cabin roof was stripped of the shabby Nautilex and was recovered with new material. All five seacocks were cleaned and rebuilt. The forward bilge pump was checked for operation. All main cabin and bridge windows were tinted with 80% UV foil. All vinyl wallpaper was washed with bleach. A custom hard top was added to cover the bridge.

In 2005, the oil and filters were changed at the beginning of the season. Fuel filters were also changed. An inoperative bilge "sniffer" was removed. Port engine battery was replaced and four new battery boxes were installed. Forward hatch over state room installed. The plastic winch cover has dried and shattered. anew aluminum cover was fabricated and a new momentary contact floor switch was installed. The outside of the main cabin was sanded, filled and paintet. The spots of starting dry rot were addressed. All fixed windows were caulked with 5200. New carpet and padding was installed. Parquet was installed in the forward stateroom. Closet rod running the length of the port bed, forward stateroom, was installed. All navigation lights checked and new gaskets installed. Now that the vessel was in the water, testing the mechanics was possible. Starboard fuel pump was replaced. Bebuilt both water pumps, both engines. Replaced one hose, port engine. Replaced external resisters both engines. Replaced starboard coil. Rebuilt both carburetors and retuned them. Replaced oil and filters again at the end of the season. Added "stabil" to fuel tanks.

Summer-2006, Installed GPS antenna and headliner in bridge and replacement of both oil pressure sending units.
