Built with a simi-displacement design with rounded bilges forward, flat aftersections, and a long keel. Her standard layout included a centerline double berth in the master cabin and a second stateroom forward with twin over/under berths. The aft stateroom dimensions are impressive. Teak woodwork was used throughout the interior with a stall shower aft. Outside the afterdeck is very roomy for a boat this size with plenty of space for socializing.

Accommodations
This Hatteras 48 is finished in the most popular two stateroom layout, able to sleep six including guest accommodations in the forward stateroom, a queen berth in the master stateroom, and a convertible double settee/berth in the dining area.
Aft on portside is the down galley with a comfortable dining settee to starboard. Separate access to forward head. Engine room access is under salon stairway. Up steps to comfortable and roomy salon with lower helm station to starboard. Aft down stairs is the full beam master stateroom.
Main Salon
Lower helm station on starboard followed by two upholstered chairs with end table. Built-in bookshelves. Built-in entertainment center shelving holds stereo, TV and VCR. Stereo includes AM/FM receiver, dual cassette player and 6-in-1 CD player. Starboard side features an upholstered L-shaped sofa. Blue carpeting throughout. Cruiseaire air conditioning/heat controls.
Galley
Down galley on port features a full size GE refrigerator/freezer (new '01); Princess 3-burner electric range and oven; large stainless steel sink; top loading dry locker. Both drawer and cabinet storage. To starboard is a dinette wtih upholstered settee which seats four and converts to a double berth.
Staterooms
Forward stateroom has upper and lower single berths in starboard with lighted hanging locker. Ample drawer and counter storage. Overhead rod holder storage. Cruiseaire air-conditioning/heat controls. Portside guest head with mirrored vanity, shower and vacuflush head.
Full beam master stateroom features a queen size berth on the centerline with walk around on both sides and built-in bedside tables. Plenty of built-in drawer storage plus two large full size hanging lockers and a full size locker with shelving for folded items. Companionway locker hides a stackable washer/dryer. Cruiseaire air conditioning/heat controls and stereo fader controls. Starboard side is master head with Vacuflush toilet, mirrored vanity and sink, and fully enclosed shower compartment with seat.
