2005 Mainship 34\' Pilot Sedan Runm Runner II w/Twin Yanmar 240hp Diesel Engines

This 34 Pilot Sedan is powered by twin 240hp Yanmar diesel engines which give this pocket cruiser a 20+knot cruising speed. This Rum Runner II limited edition boat with a yellow hull, custom upholstery and long list of standard features including two air conditioning units, upgraded 5kw generator and flat panel TV w/DVD. Electronics include color GPS/Chartplotter, depth sounder, radar and VHF radio. This low hour original owner boat has been kept under cover and has been upgraded with many custom touches by her knowledgeable owner.

Model History

The 34 Pilot was first introduced by Mainship in 1999 as a soft top, single engine boat with a contemporary down-east styling. In 2001, a hardtop or sedan model was released which proved to be very popular. Not long after, a twin engine option was introduced for both models pushing the cruise speed from 14 knots for the single to 18+ knots for the twin. Mainship completely redesigned the running surface of the boat taking her from a semi-displace to a full-planing hull design. Of course the single engined boats retained the older hull design. Mainship continues to produce both the Pilot and Pilot Sedan today with some new interior options and a revised hardtop for the sedan. This boat is the limited edition Rum Runner II model with features many upgrades over the standard boat. Details are listing below.
Hull Design

The running surface(underwater portion of the hull) was completely redesigned for the twin engine 34 Pilot. The original semi-displacement hull was not suitable for the 20 knot plus speeds that the twin engine boat is capable of. The new modified-V design features a stubby and wide keel which ends about the area of the shaft logs; this keel provides for additional directional stability. The chines were modified for more lift and to reduce spray. Running strakes were added in the bow, again to increase lift and reduce spray. The end result is a wonderful running boat that is efficient, easy to operate and very dry.

Construction

Mainship uses tried and true construction techniques. The boats are made with E-glass fiberglass woven roving and polyester resin. The hull is laid up with a solid fiberglass bottom and the hull sides are cored with balsa above the waterline. The superstructure is solid glass with balsa cored decks. The stringer system is made of marine grade plywood and is completely encapsulated in fiberglass
Cabin Walk-Thru

From the forward end of the helm deck, the cabin is entered through a centerline sliding hatch and down three steps. A large U-shaped dinette is located to starboard which does convert to a nice size double berth. Opposite on port is a well laid-out galley with Corian counters. Aft of the galley is a roomy head with full fiberglass liner. At the forward end of the salon is a full bulkhead with door, leading to the forward stateroom. The stateroom features a large V-berth with filler.

Helm

The owner has color coded the electrical switches at helm. Originally all the switches were black, making it very difficult to know what you are turning on or off without reading the label. With the color coding, it is much easier and quicker to find the right switch, without having to use glasses.
